What's Happening Right Now?

Find your situation below. Each one has something you should do before we get there.

The Door Is Stuck Open

Your garage is open to the street and the house isn’t secure. This is the one that can’t wait until morning.

Right now: Don’t leave the house unattended if you can help it. If the opener still has power, unplug it so nobody can cycle the door.

Your Car Is Trapped Inside

The door won’t open and the vehicle is behind it. Nine times out of ten this is a broken spring or a dead opener.

Right now: The red cord hanging from the opener rail disconnects the door so it can be moved by hand — but only if the springs are intact. If the door feels like dead weight, stop. Don’t force it.

You Heard a Loud Bang

A torsion spring failing sounds like a gunshot in the garage. After that, the door usually won’t move — or moves and slams.

Right now: Don’t touch the springs and don’t try to lift the door. A door with a failed spring carries its full weight, often 150 pounds or more, with nothing holding it.

The Door Came Off the Track

The door is leaning, jammed at an angle, or hanging crooked. This one gets worse every time it’s cycled.

Right now: Stop using the door completely. Disconnect the opener. A door that’s off track can come the rest of the way down without warning.

What To Do Until We Get There

A few minutes of the wrong move can turn a spring replacement into a door replacement. Here’s what actually helps.

Cut Power to the Opener

Unplug it or switch off the breaker. A door with a failed spring or cable can move unexpectedly, and an opener that keeps trying to lift a jammed door burns out its gears in minutes.

Stop Cycling the Door

Every attempt after a failure makes the damage worse — bent track, stripped gears, a second cable letting go. If it didn't work the first time, it won't work the fifth.

Secure the Opening

If the door is stuck open, move what you can out of sight and lock the interior door between the garage and the house. Tell us when you call — we prioritize an open, unsecured garage.

INDIANA WINTERS

When the Door Won't Move on a Cold Morning

Garage door sagging off its track and stuck partly open at an Indianapolis home

Indianapolis winters produce a specific kind of emergency call. The bottom seal freezes to the concrete overnight, and in the morning the opener pulls against a door that isn’t going anywhere. The opener doesn’t know the difference — it just pulls harder.

That’s how a frozen seal turns into a real repair. The strain snaps a torsion spring, strips the opener’s drive gear, or burns out the motor. The failure gets blamed on the cold, but the cold only made the door stick — the damage came from forcing it.

If the door won’t budge on a cold morning, let go of the button. Check the bottom of the door for ice along the seal, and work it loose with warm water and a plastic scraper — not a metal one, and not a hair dryer held against the vinyl. If the door still won’t move once the ice is gone, something else failed, and that’s a call.

What We Fix on Emergency Calls

We carry the parts that fail most, so most emergency calls are finished on the first visit.

Broken Springs

Torsion and extension springs, replaced in matched pairs so the door stays balanced.

Snapped Cables

Lift cables re-run and re-tensioned, with the drums reset so the door tracks straight.

Doors Off Track

The door lifted back onto the rail, bent track straightened or replaced, rollers checked.

Dead or Erratic Openers

Logic boards, drive gears, sensors, and power problems — diagnosed before anything is replaced.

Doors That Won't Secure

Broken locks, damaged bottom sections, and doors that won’t seat against the floor.

Storm and Impact Damage

Vehicle strikes, wind damage, and dented sections — assessed for repair or replacement.

From Recent Emergency Calls

Two of the calls we see most: a door hanging crooked, and a spring that snapped.

Crooked garage door needing emergency garage door repair in Indianapolis, IN

Indianapolis: a door hanging low on one side. Usually a broken cable or spring, and it won’t close securely.

Snapped torsion spring on an emergency garage door repair call in Fishers, IN

Fishers: a snapped torsion spring. Without it, the door can’t lift.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions we hear most.

Do you charge more at night or on weekends?

No. The price is the same at 2 a.m. on a Sunday or a holiday as it is at 2 p.m. on a Tuesday. No after-hours surcharge, no weekend or holiday premium, and no service-call fee on top of it.

A door stuck open so the house isn’t secure, a vehicle trapped inside, a door off its track, or a spring that failed and left the door unsafe to operate. If you’re not sure, call and describe it — we’ll tell you whether it can wait until morning.

Phone dispatch runs 24/7 and same-day service is available. Call and we’ll tell you what we can do right now.

Don’t try. Lifting a door without working springs can injure you and bend the cables and track, turning one repair into several. Leave the door where it is, disconnect the opener, and call.

That cord disconnects the door from the opener so you can move it by hand. Reconnecting it is usually something you can do yourself. If the door binds, feels heavy, or won’t reconnect, something else failed and it’s worth a call.

The bottom seal froze to the concrete, and the opener kept pulling until a spring or drive gear gave out. If the door still won’t move once the ice is cleared, call and we’ll find which part failed.

Home garage doors of every major brand and door type, including Clopay, Amarr, Wayne Dalton, and C.H.I. doors and LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Craftsman, and Genie openers.
