The company was started by Elior Kohavi, who came to garage doors after more than a decade in the mechanical trades and home services. That work is mostly diagnosis: a customer describes a symptom, and you figure out which part of a mechanical system actually failed before you touch anything.
Garage doors turned out to be the same problem at a larger scale. Springs, cables, tracks, and openers are a system under tension, and most of what goes wrong is a chain reaction that started somewhere else. A door that binds partway up isn’t a track problem — it’s usually a cable that let go first. Reading that correctly is the whole job.
First Garage Door Repair of Indianapolis is the company built around that approach. Family-owned, independent, working out of an office on Georgetown Road on the northwest side of the city.
We work on residential garage doors only, and we don’t charge to come out. A garage door problem is almost never something you can diagnose from a photo. We’d rather look at the door, tell you what actually failed, and let you decide from there.
We don't give a final number over the phone. The price ranges on our service pages are real, but your exact price depends on your door — so we look at the door, the hardware, and the opener, and then give you a number. That number is what you pay.
No service-call fee. If we look at the door and you decide not to move forward, you owe us nothing.
You'll know which part gave out, why it happened, and what will happen if you wait. Some repairs are urgent. Some can hold. We'll tell you which is which, even when the answer costs us the job.

Amazing work by Ben & Roi with First garage door repair ! They showed up at 8pm and very promptly fixed my broken spring and matched the right size to the door. Now the door is fully repaired and functioning as good as new!!! The price was fair, no hidden fees or other stuff like I've experienced before. What an amazing company! I called today and spoke w/Ben. within 45 minutes Elior arrived to repair our garage door. It was bowed in the top middle. He adjusted and added support. He then oiled the coils. The garage door now works great! I'll definitely use again when needed and will refer this company to my friends and neighbors.

No. The visit and the estimate are both free. You approve the price before we pick up a tool, and the rate doesn’t change on nights, weekends, or holidays.
Yes. The office is staffed around the clock, so a call in the middle of the night reaches a person. A door that won’t close, a car trapped inside, a spring that snapped overnight: we’re available 24/7 for emergency repairs.
Yes, in writing. Labor is covered for one year: if the work fails inside that year, we come back and correct it at no charge for labor. The parts we install carry their manufacturer’s warranty, and the cycle rating of any spring we install is written on your estimate. A standard spring is rated around 10,000 cycles, roughly 7 to 10 years of typical use; high-cycle springs are available and last longer. Misuse, accident, storm damage, and parts we didn’t supply aren’t covered.
